Take a Class
Get to know our programs by taking a single course. This will let you assess if the content and structure of the program meets your goals and fits with your other commitments. These are 3-credit graduate level courses and the credits can transfer to one of our programs (restrictions apply). You must have a bachelor's degree to enroll.

Application
Official Transcripts
When you apply online, you must submit official transcripts from each college or university you attended, even if you were not awarded a degree.
Letters of Recommendation
Submit two letters of recommendation from people familiar with your academic abilities.
GRE Scores
Get an official report from the Educational Testing Service that's less than five years old and have the testing agency send your official test scores directly to UMass Boston. Unofficial test score reports are not acceptable. UMass Boston’s institution code is 3924.
Requests for waivers will be considered for applicants encountering difficulties taking the GRE test due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Contact the Graduate Program Director paul.kowert@umb.edu to request a waiver.

Each application requires a non-refundable fee of $75.

Statement of Purpose
Statement of Purpose:
In 1,500 words, provide a statement describing your research and career interests and explaining why you are interested in an interdisciplinary MA program in Global Governance and Human Security.

Financial Aid
A limited number of merit-based research assistantships are awarded to accepted master’s students. These assistantships waive a portion of tuition and fees. In addition, graduate assistants work for a faculty or staff member in exchange for a partial cash stipend. If you are interested in being considered for an assistantship send a letter of interest detailing your relevant experience and skills to conresglobal@umb.edu.
